Joyner — Event Discovery App
Scope of work: User Research, User Interviews, User Persona, Information Architecture, User Flow, and Visual Design
About the project
Joyner is a mobile app that helps people explore their city through events.
Users can easily discover what’s happening nearby, join local communities, and make every day a little more spontaneous and colorful.
Challenge
People often miss out on local experiences because event information is scattered across multiple platforms. The goal was to create an intuitive mobile experience that unites all events in one place — from concerts and exhibitions to workshops and social meetups — while keeping it visually engaging and easy to navigate.Users can easily discover what’s happening nearby, join local communities, and make every day a little more spontaneous and colorful.
Process
I started with user research to understand how people currently discover local events and what barriers they face. Based on insights, I defined personas, user flows, and an app structure focused on simplicity and discovery.
The interface was designed to feel dynamic yet minimal, with bright accents and clean navigation that make exploration intuitive and fun.
Result
A vibrant, easy-to-use app that turns everyday life into a series of discoveries — helping users connect with their city and community in a more meaningful way.

User Research & Insights
To better understand user motivations, I created detailed user personas based on research and interviews.
They helped identify key audience segments — from active city explorers to people seeking meaningful social connections.
Using the Jobs to Be Done framework, I defined the core user needs behind each action — not just what people do, but why.
This approach guided feature prioritization and ensured the product supports real-life goals, such as “find something new to do tonight” or “connect with like-minded people nearby.”
User Flow
I mapped out the key user flows to ensure every interaction feels natural and goal-oriented.
The flow focused on quick discovery of events, simple decision-making, and effortless participation — minimizing friction at every step.
Concept
The idea for this project came from a desire to make city life more spontaneous, engaging, and easy to explore.
Many people feel like they’re missing out — they see events on social media but don’t have one place to discover what’s truly happening around them.
This app brings together city events, personal recommendations, and community interaction — helping users rediscover their city through shared experiences.
It’s designed to capture the rhythm of urban life and inspire people to go out, connect, and enjoy real moments.
